Pui O River

Pui O River is located on the southern side of Lantau Island. It is regarded as part of Ecologically Important Stream by AFCD. It passes through the village areas of Pui O and flows southward into Pui O Bay. It is a typical hillside stream with a short section near the Pui O Pumping station being channelized. The section opposite to Pui O Lo Wai Tsuen (Pui O Au) is an Ecologically Important Stream.

Pui O River

Pui O River is located on the southern side of Lantau Island. It is regarded as part of Ecologically Important Stream by AFCD. The river section at the southeast of Pui O Pumping Station is lined with gabion walls, while the remaining watercourse is a typical hillside stream with bedrocks. Dense tree and shrub communities are developed along the stream banks. Herb, fern and grass can also be found in the waterbody of the river.

 Woodland

Extensive secondary woodland is found along Pui O River and South Lantau Road. The overstorey is dominated by native trees and exotic trees. The understorey is rich in common shrubs and small trees.

 Grass Cover

A small strip of grassland is located along the downstream section. It is an abandoned agricultural land mainly covered by grass. It retains water during the wet season and it is constantly grazed by water buffalos.

The agricultural land is cultivated with fruit trees and common crops.

The developed area includes villages in Pui O area. Vegetation found in the villages includes self-seeded trees and common herbs.
