The Drainage Services Department (DSD) has continued to implement different green elements in drainage channel improvement works, to strive for a balance among flood alleviation, safeguarding human health and conserving ecosystems to achieve sustainable development.

As reference for future planning of river conservation and management, “Eco-channels Database Management System” (EcoDMS) has been established by DSD as part of the Eco-hydraulics Study on Green Channels since 2013, for the display and management of ecological and water quality data collected in green rivers.

A knowledge sharing platform

To facilitate the public in understanding the river environment of Hong Kong, the EcoDMS provides an online platform with snapshots and video clips that allow the public to be inspired and to cherish river habitats with their associated wildlife.
