Ngong Ping Stream is located on Lantau Island. It was channelized during the development of the Ngong Ping area in 2006 and it flows towards the northwest of Ngong Ping.

Ngong Ping Stream is located on Lantau Island. It was channelized during the development of the Ngong Ping area in 2006 and it flows towards the northwest of Ngong Ping.

Both sides of the embankment are lined with gabions and are heavily vegetated by common herbs. Wetland plants are found along the watercourse. During winter, water flow is greatly reduced and surface flow is absent from most of the channel.

 Woodland

Young secondary woodlands can be found at the north of the area. Except a few planted exotic trees, other young and native trees have grown to dominate the overstorey. Shrubs, and seedlings and saplings of trees have naturally established in the understorey of the woodland.

 Shrubland

Two patches of hillside shrubland are found at the northern and western parts of the area. These are typical shrubby habitat dominated by fern, shrubs and trees.

 Wooded Area

Plantation areas are found adjacent to the watercourse. This habitat is mainly dominated by exotic plantation trees although some other young, self-sown shrubs and naturally established trees are also found.

 Developed Area

Developed area includes the tourist spot Ngong Ping Village, Ngong Ping Cable Car Terminal and Ngong Ping Sewage Treatment Works. Both naturally established and invasive herbs and grass species are recorded. A row of exotic trees is planted along the roadside planting area.
