Fo Tan Nullah

Fo Tan Nullah is located at Shatin, northeast New Territories. The Nullah originates in Wo Sheung Tun and it is a tributary of Shing Mun River. It is channelized with concrete . The water quality is good according to the result of EPD river water quality monitoring programme. A semi-natural stream located immediately upstream of the channelized section is also included in the survey.

The upstream section of Fo Tan Nullah is a semi-natural cascading hillside stream. A wide range of flora species are found in this section including dense woody plant community and riparian plants. The downstream section is channelized with concrete and aquatic herb, riparian vegetation and weedy trees are found in this section.

 Woodland

Secondary woodland is located in the northern part of the survey area. The overstorey of the woodland comprises native trees while the understorey of the woodland comprises native herbs and climbers.

The developed area mainly includes Kwei Tei Street Garden and the industrial area of Fo Tan. Vegetations found are mainly cultivated exotic trees.
