Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns

Project Scope

The project scope includes:

  1. construction of sewage and sludge treatment facilities in caverns;
  2. construction and installation of monitoring system, ventilation system, fire services and building services related facilities in caverns;
  3. construction of administration buildings and ancillary buildings and related E&M and building services installation;
  4. construction of emergency bypass;
  5. decommissioning and demolition of the existing STSTW;
  6. land decontamination; and
  7. other related works.
Major Improvements and Benefits

Relocating STSTW to caverns will release the existing site of about 28 hectares for housing and other uses that will enhance our living quality and will bring extended benefits to the community and environment of Sha Tin.
