Julia Chan received her BSc and MSc from the University of Hong Kong in Environmental Science and Environmental Management. She was a team member of the Biodiversity Conservation Division of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, responsible of conducting territory-wide freshwater fish studies and conservation action plan during her earlier career. She is currently the Associate Director of Mott MacDonald Hong Kong Environment Team and Practice Leader on Ecology and Biodiversity for Asia Pacific and Australasia Region. She has 18 years’ experience specialised in wetland and biodiversity conservation, ecological impact assessment and development of ecological and landscape enhancement plan to promote recolonization of natural wildlife.
She was the Project Manager of the Eco-hydraulics Study on Green Channels – Stage 1 project and has led the team in updating the DSD Practice Note 1/2015: “Guidelines on Environmental and Ecological Considerations for River Channel Design” and recommended the implementation of site trials as part of the Stage 2 project.
