Enhancement Works for Kwun Tong Sewage Pumping Station

To cater for future development of East Kowloon, the Drainage Services Department (DSD) will enhance the Kwun Tong Sewage Pumping Station (KTSPS), which is situated near Kwun Tong Bypass and Wai Yip Street. The enhancement works have commenced in late 2017 and are scheduled for completion in end 2022. This newsletter provides the latest information on the progress of construction and related information of the project.

We understand your concern, therefore we……

  • Adopted bored piling instead of percussive piling for the construction of foundation to minimize noise nuisance.

  • Recommended the contractor to avoid carrying out noisy construction works in the early-morning, in order to minimize the impacts to the local community.

  • Monitored the contractor to carry out water-spraying regularly in the construction site and clean the wheels of vehicles before leaving the site to avoid the emission of fugitive dust.

  • Disposed the excavated materials to designated area by vessels in order to prevent dust affecting the neighborhood and avoid aggravating the traffic load in vicinity.

  • Adopted deodorization facilities and ventilation systems with the exhaust point facing the Victoria Harbour and Kwun Tong Bypass instead of the residential areas. Silencers will be installed and the fans inside the sewage facilities will be operated in low frequency to minimize the noise generated. Installation of waling

We understand that our project will bring inconvenience to the local community during the construction period. We will urge the contactor to complete the project as soon as possible in order to minimize nuisance and to uphold site cleanliness.

Opinion Survey on the Enhancement Works for Kwun Tong Sewage Pumping Station

To cope with forecasted increase in sewage flow from committed and planned development in Kowloon East, Drainage Services Department (DSD) is carrying out enhancement works for the Kwun Tong Sewage Pumping Station (KTSPS). The enhancement works include the enclosure of the KTSPS with a landscaped deck which will be opened to public for leisure and amenity purpose. The project team is now collecting views from the public on the park facilities. We hope you would provide your valuable opinions for our reference.
