Efficient use of Resources

"One-Land-Three- Usages" Pet Garden

The Stilling Basin was built, at first, for a hydraulic reason.  The project team took one step further and utilized the roof of the stilling basin for maintenance purpose and recreational use and developed the area to a large scale Pet Garden.  The area was fully utilized, not only for the purpose of flood prevention, but also giving a maintenance convenience and providing a recreational usage.  This One-land-three-usages method also develops communion with the community.

Use of rainwater

As rain is a precious natural resource, the project team further utilized the intercepted rain water at the Stilling Basin for flushing, irrigation and washing purposes after purification.  Moreover, the purified water is supplied to the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department for street cleaning purpose for saving precious water resources.
