Scope of Sewage Conveyance System

The sewage conveyance system comprises construction of a deep sewage conveyance system to collect and transfer the sewage from the northern and south-western areas of Hong Kong Island to Stonecutters Island for centralized treatment. The system consists of two series of sections made up of tunnels, pipelines and/or sewers for conveying the sewage, the first one being from North Point to Stonecutters Island via Sai Ying Pun and the second one from Ap Lei Chau to Sai Ying Pun.

Other associated works include construction of surface and sub-surface structures and associated sewers/pipeworks for connection of the sewage conveyance system to the existing SCISTW and its expansion.

Two connection structures were provided at the North Point Preliminary Treatment Works to allow for potential future connection of flow from the existing Shau Kei Wan Preliminary Treatment Works and Chai Wan Preliminary Treatment Works.
