Talk on CEEQUAL Updates

20 September 2016

Mr. Chris Broadbent, Managing Director of Civil Engineering Environmental Quality Assessment and Awards Scheme (CEEQUAL), visited DSD Headquarters and presented updates on CEEQUAL on 20 September.  The talk attracted not only DSD engineers, but also numerous representatives from other works departments, consultants and contractors.

Mr. Broadbent introduced some local works projects participating in CEEQUAL, such as Demolition of Wan Chai West Preliminary Treatment Works which was awarded the highest rating “Excellent”, and presented the future plans of CEEQUAL. Through in-depth discussions and exchange of constructive ideas, participants were delighted to gain a better insight into CEEQUAL.

Launched in the UK in 2004, CEEQUAL is an international evidence-based sustainability assessment, rating and awards scheme which promotes and celebrates the achievement of high environmental and social performance in civil engineering projects. Scope of assessment includes project and resource management, community participation, land use planning, greening, as well as impacts on the historic environment and natural habitat.
