A delegation of senior civil servants of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia visited the Happy Valley Underground Stormwater Storage Scheme (HVUSSS) on 25 August 2016 with representatives of Wan Chai District Office.
The DSD introduced the innovative features of the project, including the“Movable Crest Weir” system and the water harvesting system. The guests then visited the green lawn on top of the pump house and the Phase 1 underground stormwater storage tank. During the visit, the guests took a keen interest in the strategies adopted by the HKSARG in the course of public projects delivery. They were especially impressed by the DSD for upholding open-mindedness and transparency towards the public and the stakeholders since the kick-off of HVUSSS through a variety of channels, including the public consultation, regular updates in the newsletters, tailor made website and 24-hour enquiry hotline, etc. In addition, the regular stakeholders’ workshop was considered a very effective communication platform which promoted the interaction between the project team and the stakeholders during the construction stage.
