DSD “Tolo Harbour Village Sewerage Stage I Remaining Works” received pennants from Heung Yee Kuk N.T., Sha Tin Rural Committee and Tai Po Rural Committee

On 30 October 2015, Heung Yee Kuk N.T., Sha Tin Rural Committee and Tai Po Rural Committee have jointly presented pennants to DSD, and its consultants and contractors, as a token of their appreciation of the project team’s effort to smoothly complete DC/2008/05 “Tolo Harbour Village Sewerage Stage I – Remaining Works” for improving environmental hygiene in the vicinity. At the ceremony, our Deputy Director, Mr MAK Ka-wai, delivered a speech which concluded the experience gained and the fruitful results achieved from the village sewerage projects completed over the years. He also expressed thanks to the district councilors, village representatives and villagers to account for their support to the project.
Under DSD’s Contract No. DC/2008/05 “Tolo Harbour Village Sewerage Stage I – Remaining Works”, we have laid over 30km long sewers and associated facilities in 16 villages scattered in Tai Po and Sha Tin districts, for providing over 3100 village houses with sewer connections to the public sewerage system in the concerned area. The project aims at replacing the traditional septic tank and soakaway pit system by a new sewerage system, so as to improve the environmental hygiene of the concerned villages and the water quality of Tolo Harbour. Up to now, the works have been substantially completed. During the course of works, the project team had conducted effective liaison and consultation, established a hotline for enquiries and complaints, arranged appropriate temporary traffic measures and safety measures, and timely completed the works in order to minimize disturbance to the villagers. The villagers, village representatives and district councilors are highly satisfied with the works and the implementation arrangements. |
