“Construction Safety Week 2019” – Three DSD’s Engineering Contracts Honoured with Awards in the 25th “Considerate Contractor Sites Award Scheme” Award Presentation Ceremony

Jointly hosted by the Development Bureau and the Construction Industry Council in the eighth year, the “Construction Safety Week 2019” was successfully held from 20 to 27 May 2019. Under the main theme "Innovation in Safety", a series of events were held, including the Construction Safety Week Conference, BIM Talks X Safety, visits to construction sites with exemplary safety performance, and the award presentation ceremony of the 25th “Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme”.

20 May: Launch Ceremony cum Conference

“Construction Safety Week 2019” was kicked off by a grand launch ceremony. Speaking at the launch ceremony, the Secretary for Development, Mr Michael WONG, said that the Government has been actively promoting the development of innovation and technology, and hoped that industry stakeholders would adopt the same to raise efficiency and enhance the safety of construction sites. He also appealed to the industry for its effort on creating a safe and healthy working environment.

“Construction Safety Week Conference” was held after the launch ceremony. Local and overseas experts were invited to discuss the emerging technologies regarding site safety improvement. There were over 800 practitioners of the construction industry attended the conference.

22 May:  “BIM Talks X Safety”

“BIM Talks x Safety” was a newly introduced event in “Construction Safety Week”. The Talks aimed to provide a communication platform for experts to share local experience in enhancing the safety of construction industry with the implementation of BIM technologies and thus enhance the exchange towards achieving the target of “Zero Accident” in the construction industry.

24 May: Site Visit

The organiser selected 10 construction sites with exemplary safety performances to conduct site visits, which provided opportunities for industry practitioners to draw upon the outstanding safety practices.

27 May: Award Presentation Ceremony for the 25th “Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme”

The finale of “Construction Safety Week 2019” was the 25th “Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme” Award Presentation Ceremony. With 29 contract teams participating in the public works category, we competed for awards against other 154 participating teams from different Works Departments in aspects, including considerate attitude, work site safety and health, and environmental protection performance. Out of the 26 award-winning contracts in the public works category, our Department honoured with 5 awards in 3 works contracts, including RMAA Gold awards.  The award winning list is as below: -

The 25th “Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme” was ended with applause, and it also marked a perfect ending for the “Construction Safety Week 2019”. We hereby congratulate the award-winning teams again, wishing them performing outstandingly in the coming round of the Scheme, collaboratively uplifting of the safety and health, and working together towards the goal of achieving “Zero Accident”.
