"DSD Partners" participating in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2019

| The Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon is one of the most popular annual sports events in Hong Kong and has been organised for 23 consecutive years. Up to 75,000 runners, including overseas participants from more than 50 countries and regions, joined the event. Similar to previous years, the Drainage Services Department (DSD) formed a “DSD Partners” group with our project consultants and contractors to participate in the race so as to establish friendship. At around 6:15 in the early morning on 17 February, Mr Edwin TONG Ka-hung, former Director of Drainage Services, Mr MAK Ka-wai, Deputy Director of Drainage Services, and DSD Partners joined the kick-off ceremony outside the Hong Kong Central Library in Causeway Bay and took group photos. After that, Mr. TONG led the “DSD Partners” in orange T-shirts to the starting point at Island Eastern Corridor amidst applause and cheers. It was cool with light rain but the mood of the runners was not affected. Our geared up runners, on hearing the starting horn, set off with high morale and encouraged each other, fully showing sportsmanship. Our cheering team yelled while spectators chanted along the way, motivating the "DSD Partners" to the finish. After the race, Mr TONG greeted our runners at the Causeway Bay Sports Ground and took photos with them as well as the helpers. DSD encourages the staff to do more exercise for work-life balance. We believe that, through this annual mega event, our colleagues can build up team spirit and enjoy and benefit from the sport. See you all next year!
