Interview with the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers

The Assistant Director /Sewage Services of Drainage Services Department, Mr. CHAN Pak-keung, had an interview with the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) on the upgrading of Pillar Point Sewage Treatment Works (PPSTW) at Tuen Mun on 26 June 2014.

The PPSTW is currently being upgraded under a Design-Build-Operate (DBO) contract which comprises upgrading of PPSTW’s sewage treatment level from preliminary treatment to chemically enhanced primary treatment with disinfection, expansion of the treatment capacity from 215,000 m3 per day (Average Dry Weather Flow) to 241,000 m3 per day (Average Dry Weather Flow), provision of new septic waste reception and treatment facilities, construction of ancillary works and operation of the completed facilities for a maximum period of 15 years.  The DBO contract commenced in July 2010 with the design and construction completed in May 2014, and the operation of the upgraded STW has commenced.
