"Smart Drainage Map" A One-Stop Map for viewing Cross-Departmental System Information
20 April 2026
The Drainage Services Department (DSD) held its Annual Media Briefing on 20 April 2026, introducing a range of innovative technology applications, including the newly developed integrated digital information platform, namely the “Smart Drainage Map” (SD Map).
Officially launched earlier this year, the SD Map is an integrated digital information platform that combines “1 platform, 2 interfaces, N applications” in one system. It integrates data from multiple information systems of the DSD, including Building Information Modeling (BIM) models, underground drainage networks, hydrological information, emergency cases, and response teams’ deployment, etc. It also receives real-time data from the Hong Kong Observatory, Lands Department, and Transport Department, displaying maps, facilities, and various types of data simultaneously on a single platform. Through the two interfaces of “Facility Maintenance” and “Emergency Response,” it fully supports the Department’s two core areas of work: sewage treatment & disposal, and stormwater management. It covers tasks such as project planning, facility maintenance, flooding case management, and resource deployment.
