12 September 2025
An Electrical and Mechanical Engineer of the Drainage Services Department, Ir Winson LEUNG Tsz-chiu, has been awarded the "HKIE Outstanding Paper Award for Young Engineers/Researchers 2025" for the research paper titled: "YOSO (You Only Scan Once): A Large-Small Model Co-Adapter Framework for AI-Human Collaborative Scan-to-BIM Automation in Wastewater Infrastructure". The award was presented on 12 September 2025, marking the second consecutive year that DSD has received this distinguished recognition. This achievement underscores the Department's steadfast commitment to nurturing excellence through our colleagues.
The award-winning paper introduces an AI-assisted framework, known as YOSO, built on a Large-Small Model Co-Adapter pipeline, designed to automate and streamline the Scan-to-BIM process. This collaborative AI-human approach significantly reduces manual input by up to 80% while maintaining high levels of accuracy across BIM models. YOSO plays a pivotal role in supporting the Drainage Services Department's digital transformation journey and the modernisation of its asset management practices.
