Bloomberg News Interviewed the Director of Drainage Services

5 September 2025

The Director of Drainage Services, Mr Ringo MOK Wing-cheong, introduced the DSD's "Integrated Flood Management Strategy", which developed to address the challenges posed by extreme weather due to global climate change, during an interview by the Bloomberg News on 5 September 2025.

The interview focused on the HKSAR Government's past work in developing, reviewing, and optimizing its flood management strategy. It included the invaluable experience earned by the DSD and other stakeholders following the torrential rainstorm in early September 2023, and how Hong Kong serves as a representative case study for other regions facing similar extreme rainfall. Mr MOK stated that relying solely on large-scale flood prevention infrastructure projects is insufficient to address the growing challenges posed by climate change. The Integrated Flood Management Strategy adopts a multi-pronged approach of "Adaptation", "Resilience", and "Management" to address the flooding risks brought about by climate change, thereby building Hong Kong into a resilient city.

The interview was published at Bloomberg website on 12 September 2025. Please refer to the below whole article:
