DSD Electrical & Mechanical Engineer Ms. LEUNG Yuen-ting received the Certificate of Merit of the Young Engineer of the Year Award 2025 from the HKIE

DSD Electrical & Mechanical Engineer, Ms. Stephanie LEUNG Yuen-ting, was awarded the Certificate of Merit of the Young Engineer of the Year Award 2025 at the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Grand 50th Annual Dinner on 3 April 2025, in recognition of her outstanding achievements and contributions to the engineering profession as well as affairs of the community and the institution.

Ms. LEUNG currently works in the Electrical & Mechanical Branch of the DSD. She has been dedicated to applying innovative technologies and sustainable design principles to enhance facility efficiency and reduce maintenance costs of various environmental engineering projects. The innovative research and development project she led has successfully replaced workers performing confined space cleaning works in sewage wet wells, thus significantly improving occupational safety and health at worksites. Her remarkable contributions have not only received a commendation letter from the Director of Drainage Services for her outstanding performance in the department, but have also won innovation awards from the HKIE and the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, recognizing her achievements in the engineering field.

In the face of rapid technological developments, Ms. Leung actively enhances her professional expertise and has been awarded master's degrees in Energy Engineering and Environmental Engineering from the University of Hong Kong and the Imperial College London respectively. Furthermore, she is passionate about promoting engineering knowledge to the younger generation and the public. She has served the HKIE as a committee member of the President's Protégés Club, a mentor for student members and a school ambassador, collaborating with the Education Bureau to organize numerous large-scale campus activities, competitions and career sharing sessions to foster the engineering profession and nurture the younger generation. She is also committed to providing community services and helping the vulnerable groups. In addition to participating in local volunteer activities, she has collaborated with international volunteer organizations to organize and take part in overseas volunteer services in developing countries, utilizing her engineering knowledge to help those in need and improve the living environments of the local communities.
