CS and SCS visited Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works

On December 16, 2024, Mr CHAN Kwok-ki, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Ingrid YEUNG Ho Poi-yan, the Secretary for the Civil Service and Mr Clement LEUNG Cheuk-man, the Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service visited the Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works (SCISTW).

The visit began with a meeting with the Director of the Drainage Services Department (DSD), Mr Ringo MOK Wing-cheong, and other directorate officers of the DSD.  They discussed the department's latest progress on the drainage improvement projects so as to cope with the increasingly frequent extreme weather conditions in recent years.  Following this, they toured the Main Control Room, the Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE) and the green roof of the Main Pumping Station 2, gaining insights into the department's work in taking forward the sewage treatment initiatives, monitoring of treatment processes, and the development of contingency strategies in case of inclement and even extreme weather conditions.

The Secretary for the Civil Service also met with staff representatives from various grades in the department to exchange views on issues of concern.

The Engineer of the DSD, Ms Stephanie FENG, introduced the use of desilting robot "River Ranger" for emergency clearance works so as to resume the normal operation of the community in the shortest period of time.
