RTHK TV Programme “Hong Kong Connection” Introduced the Enhanced Measures of Various Government Departments in Coping with Extreme Weather

On 19 July and 19 August 2024, the Radio Television Hong Kong's TV Programme “Hong Kong Connection” interviewed Assistant Director/Operations and Maintenance, Mr Edwin LAU Shing-cheong, Chief Technical Officer, Mr LO Wang-ling, and Engineer, Ms Joey HO Chung-yan, to understand the department's enhanced strategies and measures in coping with extreme weather by applying innovative technology.
During the interview, Mr LAU stated that in recent years, the DSD has adopted multi-pronged approach to strengthen flood prevention capabilities, and place particular emphasis on rapid response during the extreme weather, so as to allow the community to return to normal as soon as possible. Besides, Mr LO explained the operation of the DSD Emergency Control Centre during extreme weather. Ms HO also shared the department's experience on application of desilting robots.
