Information Services Department Interviewed the DSD on Thematic Manhole Covers

Information Services Department (ISD) interviewed DSD Engineers Mr Vincent WAN Chi-kin, Mr Daniel CHAN Yu-kwan and Ms Eugene QUI Yujing on 7 August 2024, to introduce the thematic manhole covers in various districts.
In the interview, Mr WAN said that with the theme of "Stilt house", the DSD incorporated stilt house, and local specialities such as shrimp paste and salted fish in the design of the thematic manhole covers on Tai O, which depicted the lives of fishermen and the traditional fishing village lifestyle of Tai O.
Mr CHAN introduced the details of the thematic manhole covers installed at Lam Tsuen Wishing Square. He stated that apart from beautifying the community, the thematic manhole covers also highlighted the district characteristics and enhanced the image of the DSD’s drainage system, as well as creating good check-in spots for citizens and tourists.
Ms QIU introduced the design of the thematic manhole covers installed at Lei Yue Mun. She also elaborated that the covers were coloured with a paint especially used for outdoor environment so as to ensure the colour on the covers remained vibrant.

DSD Engineer, Ms Eugene QUI Yujing, mentioned that mountains and water have been chosen as part of the design elements for the thematic manhole covers in Lei Yue Mun, which represented the geographical environment of Lei Yue Mun Village surrounded by mountains and rivers
