Commercial Radio Hong Kong Interviewed the Director of Drainage Services

The Director of Drainage Services, Mr Ringo MOK Wing-cheong, introduced the DSD's measures in coping with torrential rain, and its drainage improvement works projects under planning during an interview by the Commercial Radio Hong Kong on 17 January 2024.

During the interview, Mr MOK said that the DSD has implemented a number of minor improvement works in various districts since last September. In addition, the DSD would take forward expeditiously the drainage improvement works projects, and planned to seek fund for seven drainage improvement works projects from the Legislative Council in 2024-25 financial year. The DSD would adopt parallel tendering to shorten the duration of engineering design, procurement and construction for commencing and completing the improvement works as soon as possible, so as to mitigate the flood risk of relevant districts. Mr MOK added that the "single site, multiple use" element would incorporate in the DSD's facilities under planning to provide more open space for public use.
