Public Art Design Competition at To Kwa Wan Promenade – Results Announcement and Exhibition

Public Art Design Competition at To Kwa Wan Promenade (“The competition”) co-organised by the Drainage Services Department (DSD) and Harbourfront Commission concluded successfully.

The competition invited students from Landscape Architecture, Architecture and Design disciplines to contribute design proposals for a piece of public art. The competition was well received with 28 entries.

Judging by the response and the quality of the entries, the competition is definitely a great success. All the participants have shown their deep understanding in responding to the design theme, i.e. to promote the brand of “Victoria Harbour” and DSD’s implementation of “Blue-Green Infrastructure”. We are also impressed by the participants’ efforts to promote through their design protection of ocean environment and sustainable development. DSD will consider these valuable ideas in formulating the detailed design for the public art to be placed at the promenade.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the Jury Panel and Professional Advisor for their time and contribution on the competition including the adjudication work and take this opportunity to congratulate the winners and thank all participants for making this competition a fulfilling experience. Winner list was announced and the award presentation ceremony was held on 13 October 2022.

With the conclusion of the design competition, we will hold the "Co-enjoy Promenades beyond 2022" exhibition. The exhibition will be held from 10:00am to 07:00pm between 14 and 19 October 2022 at Tai Chi Court next to the Sheung Wan Stormwater Pumping Station at the Central and Western District Promenade - Sheung Wan Section. The DSD's past and future efforts to develop the waterfront will be showcased. Public are welcome to visit.
