DSD Organised “Rivers in the City” Webinar and Visit for “My River, My Community - Workshop and Field Trip of Urban Channels"

The Drainage Services Department (DSD) was invited by the Jockey Club Water Initiative on Sustainability and Engagement (JC-WISE), a project hosted by the Faculty of Social Sciences, the University of Hong Kong, to arrange webinar and on-site visit for one of its scheme event, namely 'My River, My Community - Workshop and Field Trip of Urban Channels". 

The theme of the webinar held on 13 May 2022 was “River Revitalisation - Rivers in the City”.  In the webinar, DSD Engineer, Ms Winsy CHOI Wing-sze, introduced the concept of “Rivers in the City” and how DSD to introduce water bodies revitalisation facilities through various river revitalisation projects with the aim of providing high quality public space for the community, enhancing the connectivity along riverside channels and promoting water-friendly culture. 

On 14 May 2022, DSD engineers, Ms Veda TSANG Wai-ching and Ms Gloria CHAN Wai-ying, guided a field trip to Kai Tak River and briefed the participants the background, challenges as well as river revitalisation concepts of Kai Tak River Improvement Works. The participants then visited Tai Wai Nullah. DSD Senior Engineer, Ms Priscilla YUEN Pui-shan and DSD Engineer, Mr Sunny KWAN Ming-yeung, introduced the Revitalisation of Tai Wai Nullah project. Participants were also invited to share their views on the revitalisation of river channels.
