1 April 2022

In response to the 5th wave of the epidemic, the Development Bureau set up a task force which dedicated in constructing community isolation facilities (CIF) and treatment facilities. In this regard, the Secretary for Development, Mr Michael WONG Wai-lun, invited DSD engineers Mr Mic NG Ting-hong, Mr David LAW Tsz-wai and Ms Stephanie FENG-xue to share in his blog the works details, challenges and feelings of constructing a new public sewerage system for the San Tin CIF.

Mr NG said the DSD has mobilized 200 manpower from 3 contractors to work 24 hours a day at San Tin CIF, such that the works which normally take months to complete can be successfully completed in 7 days.

The project team had been racing against time throughout the construction, expressed by Mr LAW.  For example, to build the sewage pumping station, the team had to procure the necessary E&M equipment and construction materials in a short period of time, as well as to keep improving the design and work procedures to expedite the progress as far as possible.

Ms FENG also shared that the frontline workers voluntarily shortened their dinner and rest time at one night, making every effort to complete the final concrete pour before midnight, fully demonstrated the professional commitment and dedication.
