SDEV’s Blog: Lung Mun Three Brothers

13 February 2022

The Secretary for Development, Mr Michael WONG Wai-lun, invited DSD engineer, Mr Raymond KONG Hiu-lam, to introduce in his blog DSD’s innovative application of three remote-controlled robots, “Lung Mun Three Brothers”, in the Rehabilitation of Tuen Mun Trunk Sewer project.

Mr KONG indicated, the three robots, namely “Lung Mun I”, “Lung Mun II” and “Lung Mun III” were developed to assist in the desilting process and lining installation. The project team has made reference to DSD’s existing desilting robot as well as taking into account the site condition, challenges and project-specific functional requirements during the development of robots. Mr KONG added, the application of “Lung Mun Three Brothers” in the project provided alternative solutions to surmount difficulties in construction which could not be resolved by using conventional rehabilitation methods. It also enhanced the construction efficiency and minimised safety risk.
