Sha Tin Central Laboratory in Laboratory Services Sub-division and Operation Section Laboratory in Sewage Services Branch of DSD won the Testing and Certification Manpower Development Corporate Award and DSD Chemist, Dr Chermian LAW Yuen-chi, won the Excellent Testing and Certification Professional Award in the Middle Management sub-group in the Testing and Certification Manpower Development Award Scheme 2021-22 launched by Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification (HKCTC).
The HKCTC launched the Award Scheme for the first time, aiming to recognize testing and certification (T&C) bodies which attached great importance to talent training and manpower development, as well as to encourage T&C practitioners to strive for improvement and professional development. There were two categories of awards under the Award Scheme - the Testing and Certification Manpower Development Corporate Award and the Excellent Testing and Certification Professional Award. DSD won an award each under both the categories. The encouraging results depicted the determination of the DSD in enhancing the T&C industry and paying great importance to manpower development. As the Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Alfred SIT, said in the award presentation ceremony "In order for Hong Kong's Testing and Certification sector to better grasp the vast opportunities as provided under the National 14th Five-Year Plan and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, we need more capable and energetic young people to join the T&C profession for a stronger talent pool.”
