"Science in the Public Service" Lecture: Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns – Application of Innovation and Technology

DSD Senior Geotechnical Engineer Mr WONG Yiu-fai, Senior Engineer Mr CHAN Hok-man and Geotechnical Engineer Mr KO Ming-yuen delivered a lecture for the “Science in the Public Service” (SIPS) campaign on the topic of “Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns – Application of Innovation and Technology” on 18 September 2021.
In the lecture, the representatives of DSD introduced the background and benefits of the “Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns” project. They also shared the newly introduced sewage and sludge treatment technology, research and development work and applications of technology in construction sites to help overcome project challenges, enhance construction efficiency and improve site environment.
SIPS is a joint campaign organised by government bureaux/departments and other organisations to promote their scientific work and application of technology to the provision of services for the general public. With SIPS campaign entering its 15th anniversary this year, a series of activities including forums and lectures, science exploration activity, workshops and site visits will be held from July to December.
