“Construction Safety Week 2021” - Six DSD’s Works Contracts Honoured with Awards in the 27th “Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme” Award Presentation Ceremony

Co-hosted by the Development Bureau and the Construction Industry Council, the “Construction Safety Week 2021” was successfully held between 2 and 6 August 2021 under the theme “Safety x Smart Site” for second year running. This year’s events included conference, visits to construction sites, and the award presentation ceremony of the 27th “Considerable Contractors Site Award Scheme” (CCSAS).
2 August: Opening Ceremony and Conference
In the opening speech, Mr LAM Sai-hung, Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), called for the industry stakeholders to make good use of innovative technologies and adopt a multi-pronged approach to enhance sites safety performance. Speaking at the conference, DSD Chief Engineer/Consultants Management, Ms Carol HO Ka-yee, took the Expansion of Sha Tau Kok Sewage Treatment Works as an example to show how DSD project team applied innovative technologies, developed and used smart safety devices, in parallel with effective practices, to largely improve the sites operation and construction safety.

4 August: Site Visit
The organiser selected a number of construction sites with exemplary safety performance to conduct sites visits, which provided opportunities for industry practitioners to exchange ideas.

6 August: 27th CCSAS Award Presentation Ceremony
The finale of the “Construction Safety Week 2021” was the 27th CCSAS Award Presentation Ceremony. Six works contracts in our department won awards in the scheme, in which “DC/2018/05 Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns – Site Preparation and Access Tunnel Construction” scooped the Gold Award of both Considerate Contractors Site Award and Outstanding Environmental Management and Performance Award. The 27th CCSAS Award Presentation Ceremony ended with applause, and it also marked a perfect ending for the “Construction Safety Week 2021”. We hereby congratulate the award-winning teams again and wish them outstanding performance in the next CCSAS, and work together for enhanced construction safety, aiming for “Zero Accident”.
