The Commercial Radio’s Programme “Our Way Out” Interviewed the Director of Drainage Services

8 July 2021

On 8 July 2021, The Director of Drainage Services Ms. Alice PANG was interviewed by the guest host of The Commercial Radio’s Programme “Our Way Out”, Professor Christine LOH Kung-wai, the former Under Secretary for the Environment, about DSD’s flood prevention measures in combating climate change.

Ms PANG introduced in the interview that DSD not only has adopted the comprehensive“three-pronged flood prevention strategy”, i.e. stormwater interception at upstream, flood storage at mid-stream and drainage improvement at downstream, to tackle the threats of rainstorms, but also has strengthened the “just-in-time clearance" arrangement through the active use of Hydrometric Information System to lower the flood risk further. Ms PANG also pointed out that, DSD has incorporated more ecological conservation, single site multiple uses and Blue-Green Drainage Infrastructure ideas in flood prevention projects in recent years, with an aim to make Hong Kong a sustainable city and enhance its ability to cope with climate change.

The programme was broadcast on 15 July 2021. To listen to the programme, please refer to the following website (Cantonese only):
