SDEV's Blog: Introduction of Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns

The Secretary for Development, Mr Michael WONG Wai-lun, invited DSD Geotechnical Engineer Mr Elton KO Ming-yuen and Engineer Mr Kenneth POON Sze-lim to introduce in his blog the background, works progress and new technologies application of the Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns project.

During the interview, Mr KO expressed that, after relocation of the sewage treatment works, residents in Sha Tin area will benefit from the enhanced sewage treatment services, as well as the community wellbeing with an improved environment. Besides, the project was on schedule that the main access tunnel under construction were expected to be completed by 2022 as planned.

Mr POON also explained how the project team adopted Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) in the construction of the temporary flyover to minimise the impact caused by the works on the nearby traffic.
