On 6 January 2021, the Secretary for Environment, Mr WONG Kam-sing, visited the sewage samples collection station at Fung Chak House, Choi Hung (II) Estate to understand how the DSD collected sewage samples from a sewer manhole to assist the research team from the University of Hong Kong to conduct Sewage COVID-19 Virus Surveillance.

DSD’s chief engineer, Ms Sussana LAI Wai-kwan, explained to Mr WONG how sewage samples collection points were identified and the collection process. She also shared the challenges encountered.
