15 November 2020
The “i-connect” – Dementia volunteer project organised by the Drainage Services Department (DSD) was once again awarded the “Excellence in Construction Industry Volunteering Project” (Gold Award). In addition, four DSD colleagues were awarded the Construction Industry Volunteer Awards. Amongst them, the Community Relations Officer, Ms Holly HUI Yuet-ting, was awarded the “Excellence in Construction Industry Volunteer” (Silver Award). The results are encouraging.
Ms Alice PANG, the Director of Drainage Services, gave an opening speech at the Construction Industry Volunteer Award Presentation Ceremony on 15 November 2020. She thanked the Construction Industry Council (CIC) for its contribution to the society and sector, as well as connecting different construction-related organisations to participate in volunteering work. Ms PANG hopes that construction industry partners can continue to work together for displaying the caring spirit of “We Do what We Can”.
The CIC launched the “Construction Industry Volunteer Award Scheme” (CIVAS) in 2017 with an aim to recognising contributions from construction practitioners to society and to encouraging a healthy lifestyle and a caring culture amongst them. 49 construction-related organisations, including government departments, developers, contractors, sub-contractors, labour unions and industry volunteer groups, as well as 10 NGOs have participated in CIVAS this year.
