"Science in the Public Service" Lecture: Latest Development of Harnessing Renewable Energy in Drainage Services Department

“Science in the Public Service”(SIPS) has begun in August 2020, in line with the theme of “Science in Everyday Life” this year, DSD Electrical and Mechanical Engineer, Mr HO Kwok-kei, delivered a lecture on the latest development of harnessing renewable energy in this department through online broadcast on 22 August 2020.

Mr. HO stated that DSD has been striving to adopt different advanced technologies to harness renewable energy in its sewage treatment and stormwater drainage facilities, and thus reducing carbon footprint and help mitigating climate change. He also shared the latest development of harnessing renewable energy in DSD, including the technologies adopted and their effectiveness, and challenges.

By providing a platform for coordinating different activities, "Science in the Public Service" (SIPS) is a joint campaign by the Hong Kong Observatory and various government departments, as well as other related organisations to promote their science related work and effective application of technology to enhance the services for the general public.
