Media interviewed DSD on Inter-Reservoir Transfer Scheme

Six media (Apple Daily, HK01, Ming Pao, Oriental Daily, Sing Tao Daily and Ta Kung Pao) interviewed DSD Engineer, Mr Raymond YIP Ho-pang, on the details of the Inter-Reservoir Transfer Scheme (IRTS).

Mr YIP explained to the reporters that the IRTS is part of the Lai Chi Kok Transfer Scheme. Through constructing a 2.8 kilometres long water tunnel connecting Kowloon Byewash Reservoir and Lower Shing Mun Reservoir, lowering the possibility of overflow from the former, allowing the Lai Chi Kok, Cheung Sha Wan and Shum Shui Po areas to withstand rainstorms of 50-year return period. The IRTS would also collect an estimated average annual additional fresh water of about 3.4 million cubic metres.
