SDEV's Blog: Interview of DSD Engineer POON Tin-yau
15 April 2020
DSD Engineer Mr POON Tin-yau introduced the operation, function and advantages of the new remote-controlled desilting robot procured by DSD early this year in the blog of The Secretary for Development.
Mr POON explained that, differ from traditional desilting method, workers can be spared from entering the confined and submerged box culverts by controlling the desilting robot to work inside the culverts remotely. The robot does not only enhance occupational safety, but also improves efficiency as the desilting works can now be carried out in rainy season.
In addition, the interview also touched on the “just-in-time clearance” arrangement, which had just been introduced by DSD in this rainy season.
