DSD awarded the Winner of the International Tunnelling Awards 2011 organized by New Civil Engineer and Ground Engineering

DSD’s project “Hong Kong West Drainage Tunnel” was awarded the Winner of “Tunnelling Project of the Year (US$ 100M to US$1bn)” of the International Tunnelling Awards 2011 organized by New Civil Engineer and Ground Engineering. This is the only Hong Kong project, among more than 74 international entries that got shortlisted in the 12 categories and won. Presentation ceremony was held on 1 December 2011 introducing by the judges that “this is a model tunnelling project, delivered under difficult circumstances”.
Hong Kong West Drainage Tunnel has incorporated various innovative techniques and overcome a number of difficulties by close collaboration between all the involved parties and stakeholders. This international award recognizes DSD’s commitments and efforts in delivering this drainage improvement project to alleviate the flooding problems in Northern Hong Kong lsland.
