10 November 2011
DSD held the first DSD Green Groups Forum (“the Forum”) on 10 November 2011 at the Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works with 15 guests attended from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) and 5 Green Groups, namely Conservancy Association Hong Kong, Green Power, HK Bird Watching Society, Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden & World Wide Fund for Nature Hong Kong.
The objectives of the Forum are to foster the collaboration and share experience amongst Green Groups and DSD in delivering sustainable drainage projects and addressing public’s interests.
Deputy Director of Drainage Services, Mr. W TSUI gave an opening speech for the Forum, followed by presentations and a greening tour introducing DSD’s efforts in the aspects of engineering features for ecological enhancement in channel projects, preservation of local species during construction, and the greening elements of DSD’s facilities. The feedbacks from AFCD and Green Groups were positive and encouraging.
