DSD Supercritical Vortex Intakes of Hong Kong West Drainage Tunnel won the First Prize of Construction Sustainability in CIC Construction Innovation Award 2017

On 15 December 2017, DSD supercritical vortex intakes for the Hong Kong West Drainage Tunnel (HKWDT) won the First Prize of Construction Sustainability in CIC Construction Innovation Award 2017.  The prize presentation ceremony was officiated by the Acting Chief Executive, Mr Matthew CHEUNG Kin-chung.   He praised DSD’s remarkable achievements in innovative and sustainable design for urban stormwater management.   This successful innovation has developed through long-term collaboration between DSD, academia and engineering industry with a common goal to benefit the community.

Following its successful implementation and proven performance of the HKWDT since 2012, the vortex intake system now sets a standard for hydraulic design of vortex intakes and drops internationally.
