Completion Ceremony for Contract No. DC/2007/02 Drainage Improvement Works in Lung Yeuk Tau, Kwan Tei South and Leng Tsai, Fanling

The drainage improvement works in Fanling, Contract No. DC/2007/02, was completed in July 2011. This Contract, with a contract sum of approximately $120 million, comprises the widening and straightening of Tan Shan River at Sha Tau Kok Road - Ma Mei Ha and Kwan Tei River at Queen Hill. It also comprises the construction of reinforced concrete rectangular channels at Lung Ma Road and Leng Tsai, Fanling.

On 22 July 2011, a contract completion ceremony was held at the site office in Fanling.  The guests of honor included the Honourable LAU Wong-fat, the Chairman of New Territories Heung Yee Kuk; Mr. LI Kok-fung, the Chairman of Fanling District Rural Committee; Mr. CHAN Chi-chiu, the Director of Drainage Services Department; Mr. TSUI Wai, the Deputy Director of Drainage Services Department.

Mr. CHAN, the Director of Drainage Services Department, said that he appreciated the importance of communication and understanding among different parties of the contract to solve complicated site problems in this Contract. Mr. CHAN also expected that the New Engineering Contract (NEC) would be adopted in more public works contracts to promote contractual partnering between DSD, the consultants and the contractors for the successful implementation and completion of the contracts.

To express the appreciation to DSD, Hon LAU and Mr. LI presented a banner to the Director of Drainage Services Department and the Chief Engineer of Drainage Projects Division, Mr. LUK Wai-hung, respectively.
