11 August 2011

The Deputy Director of Drainage Services was interviewed on 11 August 2011 by a member of the press on the transplantation of a tree under the Jordan Valley box culvert interception facilities project and explained on site the transplantation process.

Under the project, a 8m tall Melia Azedarach, commonly known as China Berry Tree, of over 40 years old and with a trunk diameter of about 49cm located within the site boundary was successfully transplanted to a temporary holding nursery, about 80m from its original location in April 2011. When the project is close to completion in 2014, the tree will be transplanted to a final location within the future desilting compound.
