Press Release: Drainage Services Department Open Day

The Drainage Services Department (DSD) will hold its 2012 Open Day on March 3 and 4 at the Shatin Sewage Treatment Works. Through thematic visits, video shows and exhibitions, the public can gain a better understanding of the department's efforts in flood prevention and the collection, treatment and discharge of sewage. The educational exhibitions and visits will be hosted by professionals from the department. All members of the public are welcome to join the event.

The Open Day will have the following themes: "Do it from the Heart", "Education in drainage services", "Innovative technology in drainage services", "Sustainable drainage services in Hong Kong" and "30th anniversary of the Shenzhen River Regulation Project - a major milestone to commemorate the collaboration between HKSAR and Shenzhen".

The Open Day will also include a family planting corner, an organic farm, a photo-taking corner, cultural and entertaining performances, computer animation games and game booths so that visitors can have an enjoyable weekend.

The Open Day is free of charge. Free shuttle bus services will be provided at the pick-up areas near the bus terminus outside MTR University Station, at Pai Tau Street (Exit B of MTR Shatin Station) and at On Chun Street (opposite Ma On Shan Park) from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
