Opening ceremony of the New Shatin Sewage Treatment Information

The Opening Ceremony of New Shatin Sewage Treatment Information Centre was held on 3 April 2013. It provides a new platform for the Public to understand the work of the Drainage Services Department. 

Shatin Sewage Treatment Information Centre (hereinafter called as "Information Center") has been shouldering an important mission for Public Education. Through model exhibitions, videos and site visits, the Information Center promote the Public to understand the operation of sewage treatment and increase environmental awareness. In order to cope with the increasing number of visitors, the Information Center needs to be expanded in a timely manner. After more than a year of planning, the Information Center has been expanded from 136 square meters to 270 square meters to accommodate more visitors to strengthen our Public Education for the works and services of the Drainage Services Department.

 

The theme of the new Information Centre has included an overview of DSD’s works and sewage treatment process. The new Information Center is divided into two main areas, namely Exhibition Gallery and Lecture Room. Exhibition Gallery uses multimedia means to briefly describe the DSD’s works in flood control, sewage services and sustainability. Lecture Room can accommodate up to 50 guests to explain the sewage treatment process before attending the site visits.

The new Information Center is now being organized for hand-over and operational training. It is anticipated the new Information Centre will officially receive visitors by May.
