New Engineering Contract (NEC) awarded for Contract No. DC/2012/05 “Sewerage at Yuen Long Kau Hui and Shap Pat Heung”

The Drainage Services Department signed a $145 million contract with the Contractor, Kwan On Construction Company Limited, on 5 September 2012 for construction of village sewerage in Yuen Long Kau Hui and Shap Pat Heung.  The project adopts a "New Engineering Contract" (NEC) under which all parties in the contract, including the project management office and the contractor, will need to follow the contract conditions of the NEC to manage the project in a partnering manner.

The works include (i) construction of about 6.5 kilometres (km) of sewers for 6 unsewered areas, namely Nam Pin Wai, Sai Pin Wai, Tsoi Uk Tsuen, Wong Uk Tsuen, Ying Lung Wai and Tai Tong Tsuen; (ii) Construction of about 3.6 km of gravity trunk sewers in the vicinity of aforesaid areas; and (iii) Ancillary works.  The works are scheduled for completion in 2016. 

The consultant responsible for this Contract is "Black and Veatch Hong Kong Limited".
