The Project comprises the following key elements :

(a)  demolition of the decommissioned San Wai Preliminary Treatment Works (SWPTW);

(b)  construction of a secondary plus effluent polishing plant with a capacity of 90 000m³/day for treating sewage from the Hung Shui Kiu / Ha Tsuen New Development Area (HSK/HT NDA) and other surrounding areas, with emergency bypass system to Deep Bay water zone;

(c)  construction of a sludge treatment facility at the HSKEPP with a capacity to digest and dewater the sludge generated;

(d)  construction of reception facilities and co-digestion facilities suitable for receiving and co-digesting with sewage sludge from San Wai Sewage Treatment Works (SWSTW) and 200 wet tonne pre-treated food or organic wastes;

(e)  construction of utility corridor between the two sites of HSKEPP; construction of emergency bypass scheme(s) for HSKEPP and SWSTW to Deep Bay water zone;

(f)  connection works for an effluent discharge to Urmston Road submarine outfall via an existing tunnel extending from the nearby SWSTW and associated modification works; and

(g) associated landscaping works and related facilities.

The scope of this consultancy, which is currently expected to commence in November 2022, is indicated in the draft Scope given in the CD-ROM of Electronic Invitation Package (EIP) Reference EIP-CE 32/2022-T&F-0.
