The following sewage treatment works are open to visits by students or organizations through prior application:-

Yuen Long Sewage Treatment Works

Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works

Points to note

  1. Eash visit lasts for about 1 hour 30 minutes.

  2. Only secondary school students or above are allowed to visit the sewage treatment works.

  3. The visiting group size is limited to 25 persons (including teachers or any responsible staff) for Sha Tin/Yuen Long/Stonecutters Island/ Ngong Ping  Sewage Treatment Works, 20 persons for Stanley Sewage Treatment Works, and 15 persons for Sai Kung Sewage Treatment Works.

  4. The dates of visit will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

  5. If typhoon signal No. 8 or above or Rainstorm Red Warning is hoisted at 7:00am on the date of the scheduled visit, the visit on that date will be cancelled.

  6. For Ngong Ping Sewage Treatment Works, if typhoon signal No.3 or above or Rainstorm Red Warning is hoisted at 7:00am on the date of the scheduled visit, the visit on that date will be cancelled.

  7. Visitors are advised to wear flat-bottom walking shoes.

  8. In case of any special events, DSD reserves the right, with advance notice given, to cancel any scheduled visit at any time.

How to Apply?

  1. Fill in both the Application Form and the Form of Undertaking 1, and return to DSD either by fax or by mail. The Form of Undertaking 2 may be returned to us on the date of the scheduled visit. For Ngong Ping Sewage Treatment Works, please download this application form for registration.

  2. Upon receipt of the application, DSD will issue a reply letter to the applicant informing whether the visit can be arranged or not. The date of the visit will be included in the letter if the application is approved.
