Local Improvement

a) Local Drainage Improvement Works

A series of local drainage improvement projects are being carried out in the New Territories. These projects consist mainly of the improvement of local channels and village drains, and are implemented under the Rural Planning and Improvement Strategy programme managed by the Home Affairs Department. These works will alleviate the local flooding situation in flood prone rural areas.

b) First Aid Measures

First aid measures are designed and implemented quickly so as to provide immediate relief at flooding blackspots. These could include the addition of road gullies, roadside channels, and the clearance of obstructions in channels and pipes.
