DSD Duty Visit to Guangzhou

Mr. Ringo MOK Wing-cheong, Director of Drainage Services, led a delegation to Guangzhou on 23 January 2024 to visit the Emergency Command Centre of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, the Public Education Corner and the “Forecast-Forewarn-Rehearsal-Planning” digital platform of the Pearl River Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources (PRWRC).  The delegation led by the Drainage Services Department (DSD) discussed and exchanged experience with PRWRC, the Emergency Management Bureau and the Water Authority of Guangzhou Municipality on flood control and drainage strategies, emergency response during rainy seasons, and the adoption of latest information technology in water resources management including the application of digital twins.  This duty visit reinforced the exchange and cooperation in flood control and drainage management of the two sides for jointly facing the challenges brought about by climate change, with its content also contributes to the on-going DSD’s study for the strategic planning on flood management against sea level rise and extreme rainfall.
