DSD awarded the Winner of 2012 IWA Project Innovation Awards - East Asia Regional Awards in Planning Category (Date: 20/4/2012)

DSD’s project “Happy Valley Underground Stormwater Storage Scheme” was awarded the Winner of 2012 IWA Project Innovation Awards - East Asia Regional Awards in Planning Category organized by the International Water Association (IWA). Awards Ceremony and Dinner will be held on 3 July 2012 in Singapore during the Singapore International Water Week 2012.

The IWA Project Innovation Awards Programme was established to recognise excellence and innovation in water engineering projects throughout the world, as identified by five key criteria: originality and innovation; social, economic and sustainable design considerations; future value to the water engineering profession; complexity of the project; and the extent to which projects meet the clients’ or owners’ needs. Happy Valley Underground Stormwater Storage Scheme has incorporated innovative technologies in the design to overcome the challenges of construction in scarce land and highly-populated region in Wan Chai and Happy Valley districts, and address the increasing public concern on sustainability.
